A query entered in a search box is sent to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the terms and returns its results. Wood County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of the names or places submitted through those boxes.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to respond and manage the exchange. It stays within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server operation records limited technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates, times, and approximate visit length
- Device type and operating system

- The pages requested during the visit
- A referring site, when one supplied the visit
- The device's assigned IP address

Wood County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its published material identifies official channels at Wood County Sheriff Admin Records, the courts, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Information Bureau, and the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention choices, and sharing rules apply to information entered there. Those practices are not controlled by this policy, so review the provider's notice before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Wisconsin agencies, legal resources, or outside tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's policy controls the visit. Review it before providing personal details.
Advertising companies may also use their own systems to recognize activity across websites for interest-based ads.

Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39, governs records held by Wisconsin government authorities, not data held by this private site. The state's CIB reporting and dissemination framework appears in Wis.
